Exercise helps prevent and improve many health conditions, including diabetes, arthritis, and high blood pressure.
So just HOW does exercise help depression?
- It increases your body temperature, which has a calming effect.
- Releases Endorphins and Neurotransmitters that are like 'Feel Good' chemicals!
- Changes the way you view your life. When you get in to a different routine, frequently your ideas change and the way you process information changes. This can result in a lot of clarity for you!
Well, thats up to you! We recommend 20-30 minutes of elevated heart rate for 3-5 days per week. Walking, hiking, riding a bike, taking the stairs instead of the elevator are some basic ideas. You don't need to be a pro, just get out there and start with something basic. You don't want to over-do it to quickly. Feel free to ask Dr. Diane or myself more specific questions regarding your particular situation.
So, get out there and move that body! Go make it a great day!
