Got Anxiety or Depression? Try This!

When you feel anxious or depressed, quite often the LAST thing you want to do is exercise, but that may just be the thing that you are missing!

Exercise helps prevent and improve many health conditions, including diabetes, arthritis, and high blood pressure.

So just HOW does exercise help depression?
  • It increases your body temperature, which has a calming effect.
  • Releases Endorphins and Neurotransmitters that are like 'Feel Good' chemicals!
  • Changes the way you view your life.  When you get in to a different routine, frequently your ideas change and the way you process information changes.  This can result in a lot of clarity for you!
What SHOULD I do for exercise?

Well, thats up to you!  We recommend 20-30 minutes of elevated heart rate for 3-5 days per week.  Walking, hiking, riding a bike, taking the stairs instead of the elevator are some basic ideas.  You don't need to be a pro, just get out there and start with something basic.  You don't want to over-do it to quickly.  Feel free to ask Dr. Diane or myself more specific questions regarding your particular situation.

So, get out there and move that body! Go make it a great day!
